Tribute to our father, Claude Simard
A man with a big heart, a builder, an unforgettable bon vivant
On February 18, 1940, in Magog, Claude Simard was born—a man who would leave a profound mark on our lives. He also lived in Laval and Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu, but his heart always remained where love, family, and good times could be found.
He was the faithful and loving husband of Michèle, the love of his life. Together, they built a life full of love and balance, surrounded by their two sons, Benoît and Martin. Later, he had the joy of becoming the beloved grandfather of Jessica, whom he cherished dearly.
Dad was a true man of trade. A butcher at Steinberg, a skilled renovator, a home builder… and even a boat builder (because, why not?). There was nothing he couldn’t transform with his hands and a bit of imagination. A genius handyman, a passionate painter, a humorous inventor—every object became a masterpiece in his hands.
With him, every moment turned into a celebration, every meal into a feast—especially if there was pizza, lasagna, or a sweet dessert involved. He adored his little dogs, his paintbrushes, his tools, boating, skiing, and traveling—including an unforgettable cruise to Alaska with Mom, where he never ate so well without lifting a finger!
A social and warmhearted man, he loved family gatherings… and was just a bit of a cheater at cards (we’ll never forget that!).
But above all, Dad, you were a man of your word, a loving husband, a devoted father. You loved Mom with tenderness and loyalty, and your bond with her was a beautiful sight—a true source of inspiration.
You were our mentor, our role model, our guide.
You taught us everything: how to build, how to dream, how to love, and how to stand tall.
By your example, you passed on strength, dignity, generosity, and a love for doing things right.
You leave behind an immense void—but more importantly, an indelible mark.
You live on in us, in our actions, our values, our memories.
Thank you for everything, Dad.
We love you forever.
Benoît, Julie, Martin, Katy & Jessica

CLAUDE,
Mariette Perreault & Raymond Chapdelaine.
