Four generations of thanatologist listening to people

The funeral home was founded in 1930 by Léon Poissant who gave it his name. Back then, the deceased were embalmed and displayed in their homes. Families often came out of this experience exhausted.

In 1950, Léon opened his first funeral home exactly where it is today on Saint-Pierre Street, then he opened various branches in Delson, Saint-Philippe and Kahnawake. Through it all, he was also elected mayor of Saint-Constant from 1945 to 1955.

In 1968, his son Jean, a graduate of the Institut de Thanatologie du Québec, took over and renovated the parlors. In his process of development and expansion of territory, he acquired a new branch in Saint-Rémi in 1986 while providing quality ambulance service in the region for a period of 25 years.

In 1990, his son Robert, also a graduate of the Institut de Thanatologie du Québec, took up the torch. A year later, he added a columbarium and undertook various major works in the various branches, namely the expansion and complete redevelopment of the head office in Saint-Constant and the branches in Saint-Rémi and Kahnawake.

In 2010, in order to allow families to have all the services under the same roof, Robert closed the branches of Delson and Saint-Philippe, then concentrated his operations at the funeral home of Saint Constant; he added a chapel, a reception hall and another columbarium, propelling it among the largest funeral complexes, comparable to those of large urban centres.
