Obituary
Mavis Connie
MCARDIE
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mavis “Connie” McArdle, who left this world peacefully at the age of 86. Connie was a
devoted friend, a loving family member, and a kind soul whose warmth and laughter brought comfort to all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Annie Montour and Albert “Eddie” McArdle, and her brother Albert McArdle. She is survived by her nephews, niece,
many cousins, and friends, all of whom will deeply miss her love, wisdom, and unwavering support.
She had a passion for storytelling and a deep love for sharing knowledge, whether through her work at The Eastern Door newspaper in Kahnawake, her
many years at Air Canada, performing with the Musical Entertainers, or as a board member and treasurer of the Kateri Memorial Foundation.
Her commitment to the wellbeing of her community was evident in all that she did.
Headstrong and determined, Connie always did things her way. She fought until the very end, facing every challenge with resilience and grace. A trailblazer in health, she was the first person in Canada to undergo a ground-breaking procedure in which a pig’s liver was used externally to filter her blood, sustaining her until a donor liver became available for transplantation. She embraced this experience with her optimism and was always happy to share her journey, educating and inspiring others about the success of her transplant.
Connie had a gift for lifting spirits, whether with a kind word, a knowing smile, or one of her interesting stories. She had a deep love for children and cherished watching the kids in the family grow, celebrating their milestones and always offering guidance, encouragement, and love. Her presence was a source of comfort, wisdom, and laughter.
We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Jennifer Robinson for her kindness and compassion, and for going above and beyond. We’d also like to thank the
staff at Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre for their exceptional care.
Visitations will begin at 12:00 on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at Poissant & Deer in Kahnawake, Qc. A service will take place on Thursday March 20th, in the same venue at 12:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kateri Memorial Foundation or the Kahnawake Fire Brigade in her memory.
Connie’s strength, resilience, and love will remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rideau Funeral Home.
