It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. André Girard Sr., who died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at Anna-Laberge Hospital in Châteauguay on September 20, 2026, at the age of 79.
A kind, caring man deeply loved by his family, André is remembered as a generous person whose warm presence and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A hardworking and dedicated man, he was still active as a security guard at the time of his passing. His departure leaves a huge void in the hearts of his family and loved ones, but his love and the precious memories he leaves behind will live on in each of them.
He has gone to join Mrs. Diane Tremblay, the mother of his children, who passed away in 2011, as well as his parents, the late Mr. Charles-Édouard Girard and the late Mrs. Lucette Tremblay.
He leaves to mourn his partner of the last 14 years, Mrs. Jeannine Dufour; his children, Steeve (Renée), Guylaine, Junior (Sonia), and Marie-Ève; Jeannine’s son, Michel (Hélène); his grandchildren, Caroline (Chloé), Véronique (Éric), Geneviève (Danny), Maxime (Cynthia), Mélodie (Jean-Christophe), Jean-Philip (Gabrielle), Félix, as well as Jeannine’s grandson (Michaël); and his great-granddaughters, Maeva and Liana.
He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Jacqueline, Florence (Michel), Johanne, Odette (Martin), Nicole, and Charline (Ghislain); his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, his nephews and nieces, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Girard has been entrusted to the care of Poissant & Fils Funeral Home.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in Salon B of the complex. A ceremony will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the complex’s LaSaline Chapel.
Interment of the ashes will take place at a later date at Saint-Paul Cemetery in Manicouagan – Longue-Rive (Saint-Paul-du-Nord).
Expressions of sympathy may be made through a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Huntington Society of Quebec.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the care staff at the Anna-Laberge Hospital Centre in Châteauguay for the excellent care provided to André, as well as all those close to him who cared for him with dedication and kindness.
