On Sunday, March 19th, 2023 Annie Konwaronhiá:wi Thomas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and extended family at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center in Kahnawà:ke.
She is predeceased by her parents Roseanne Karihwiióstha Jacobs and Frank Akwiréntha Thomas. By her husband Freddie Arenhóktha Deer and her lost son baby Deer. By her siblings Louise, Joe, Wishe, Junie, Brenda, Angeline and Margaret and by her great granddaughter Kaniehtí:ne. She is survived by her siblings Peter, Ethel, Carol, Tessie and Shirley. She is also survived by her children Kevin Ka’nahsóhon (Debbie), Carlene, Wendy (Ray) and Thomas (Tracy). Her grandchildren Karihwakátste (Richard), Brennen (Jeci), Kahsennénhawe (Tami Jo), Roronhiakéhte (Sara), Karahkwéntha, Kahentaké:ron, Gasenneeyoh (Luke), Karonhienhá:wi, Kaniehtenhá:wi, Arenhatáse (Caitlin).
She will be missed by her many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be remembered by many as the strong Kanien’kehá:ka woman she was, the years she dedicated to teaching the Kanien’kéha language, and how she fulfilled her duties & responsibilities as a faith keeper at the Mohawk Trail Longhouse.
She will be resting at the Mohawk Trail Longhouse and will receive visitors on Tuesday at 6:00 and Wednesday and the funeral ceremony will be on Thursday at 11am at the Mohawk Trail Longhouse. Burial will be at the Protestant Cemetery with a meal at the Kahnawà:ke Moose Lodge following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honour to a Kanien’kéha language program or to the Kateri Memorial Hospital Foundation. Niawenhkó:wa

To Annie’s family. They lease accept my deepest sympathy on loss of a beautiful, strong woman. I loved her humour but most of all I loved her singing in Italian to my husband Peter Boy. She will be missed ❤️
