Anna was full of life and the keeper of all the family stories. She never forgot a birthday, and could always be counted on to remind you of your age!
She was a proud aunt to the following: AnnaMae, Trudy and Donny, Mouchie, Brian, Dwayne, Cheryl, Alexis, Loanna, Tsohahiio and Kyle, and shared a special relationship with all of them. That relationship extended to her great-nieces Terri, Amy, Graysen, Tutu, Cameryn, Carsyn, Ava, Lyric and Ieien’kwaniíontha, and great-nephews Joe-Frank, Zachary, Sage, Rawennakátste, Takarakwensere, Conlen, Shakohawines and Jack, and the great greats-Dade (Akenhnhiío, Tiowennóse and Takarahkontie), Presley, Lola, Ruby, Wa’kenhrawakon and Iehrisaks, all of whom she was so proud.
Known as Tiorensowes by many, she was a proud graduate of the first cohort of the Kanien’kéha Ratiwennahnírats Adult Immersion Program. Tiorensowes completed her Teaching Certificate then her Bachelor of Education at McGill University, all while teaching at Karonhianonhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa.
Tiorensowes loved being a Kanien’kéha teacher and most of all, loved her students. Her proudest moments were graduating from the Kanien’kéha Ratiwennahnírats program and McGill, and then watching two more generations, daughter Lisa and granddaughters Paxton and Adysson (Wahshokwiios), follow in her footsteps as Ratiwennahnírats graduates.
Anna loved to dance, even once appearing on a live bandstand show called Like Young, which aired on tv.
An avid storyteller, she had a vast knowledge and history of family and community, both of whom she had so much love for.
She was loved by all and our hearts are hurting.
