It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Joseph Rokwaho Cross, 60 years old, from Kahnawa:ke on September 21^st, 2026.

He is predeaced by his father Earl Cross and his brother Rahontsiio.

He is survived by his mother Helen McComber-Cross, his siter Merit (Dustin), his brother Skanionhati (Keziah), his nieces Iotshatená:wi, Wahcawin, Iehwatsiri:ne, Iehtehranónhna and his nephew Atehrhaté:ni.

Along with his great nephews, great nieces, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.

Anyone who knew Joseph, knew him as a social butterfly, who lived life with an adventurous spirit.

His passion was cooking, he started working at Rabaskas when he was 13 years old and he was known to many as the best pizza maker in town. Joseph’s strength, generosity, sense of adventure, and love for the people in his life made him someone truly special. He created memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be dearly missed and forever carried in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the Kahnawa:ke first responders and the staff at the Anna-Laberge Hospital who have helped him over the years.

The family are receiving relatives and friends at his mother’s home on 132, on Wednesday September 23, starting at 5 pm. Ceremony will be held on Friday September 25 at 2 pm followed by the burial at Longhouse Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Kahnawake Firebrigade will be appreciated.
